If there’s one thing I could get every small business owner to really believe when it comes to marketing, it’s this:
Consistency. Is. Everything.
You don’t have to be a video editing pro. You don’t need to go viral. You don’t need a perfect Instagram grid or animations in every Reel.
What matters most is showing up.
The algorithms on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook are literally designed to reward consistency. They are trained to notice and promote accounts that post regularly. Not perfectly. Not with professional production. Just consistently. (Now I do think quality is next up in importance, but that is a different talk for a different day.)
I know it’s easy to get discouraged. You post something you worked hard on and…crickets. But that post wasn’t a waste. It was a brick in the foundation you’re building. The algorithm saw it.
Here’s what consistency does:
- Trains the algorithm to trust your page and start testing your content with more people.
- Builds trust with your audience. They start expecting to hear from you.
- Gives you data of what your people respond to, what to do more of.
- Makes YOU better. You’ll get faster, more confident, and more creative just by doing it.
Some of the most successful small businesses we’ve seen across our marketplaces aren’t the flashiest. They’re just present. Week in, week out. They share new arrivals. Behind-the-scenes peeks. Local love. Community events. A sale here, a story there.
So here’s your challenge:
Start with 3-4 days a week. Put it on your calendar. Keep it simple. Use the photos or videos you already have. Throw some music in the background and text on screen or voiceover. Talk about what’s happening this week in your business. Don’t overthink it. Just post the content.
The algorithm is watching. More importantly, your community is watching.
And they want to support you. You just have to keep showing up and remind them you’re there.
You’ve got this!
